I build companies. More often I get called into the ones already coming apart. I have been an engineer, banker, operator, across consumer, beauty, biotech, technology, and real estate. Fixing is the harder work and it's what I am best at, because the real problem is almost never the one you were expecting. Finding it fast is most of the job. What follows is a cascade of decisions that puts the corrective plan into action.

I have been the chief executive, the chief strategy officer, and the board member and investor asking the hard questions. These were not companies with deep benches, so when there was no one to run marketing, I ran marketing. Same for product, and for finance. That is the part that matters here. I have sat in enough of those seats to know what good looks like, and to know inside one conversation whether the person in front of me is any good at their piece.

Along the way I moved across the country seven times and got good at the thing this business runs on: standing a home and a life back up from scratch, fast, with an eye for design that makes a new place feel like home from the first night.

It took me a while to notice that the people around me struggling hardest with that exact skill were men coming out of divorce. Smart, capable men who could run a company but were suddenly underwater on the logistics of a second household and a reordered life. I'd walk friends through the practical pieces almost by reflex, and more than a few said the same thing: you should make this a business.

So, I did.

I look at this the way I look at any business: what it costs, what it's worth, and where the real leverage sits. That keeps the emotional moments grounded in clear numbers instead of expensive guesses.

You will get my honest read, and you will get it quickly. Your lawyer is paid to advocate for you. Your friends have picked a side. Nobody in that group is going to tell you the apartment is wrong or the number does not work. I will.

I'm not here to be solemn about it. You already have people for the feelings. What you don't have is somebody who can look at a hundred open decisions, make ninety of them go away, and hand you back the ten that are actually yours.
